This fractional microneedling treatment uses a powered, disposable needle tip to precisely induce collagen production. It allows penetration of specific serums, including your own natural serum, to give a more youthful appearance.
Dr. Gidon trained in Dermatology at the University of Toronto and is a Board Certified Dermatologist in both Canada, as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the United States.
What is it?
The microneedling device is a sophisticated method of needling technology. It has a multi-speed motor and adjustable needle depths to provide safe, individualized treatments for all skin types. It can be used as a treatment on its own, but is usually used in combination with other skin care treatments. One of the most important aspects of treatment is its ability to act as a dermal infusion device with serums.
How does it work?
Fine, vibrating needles pierce the skin at a predetermined speed and depth which are adjusted for different treatment areas. The mild damage to the skin stimulates collagen.
What does it treat?
Fine lines, crow's feet, skin texture, pores, dull skin, scars, and stretch marks improve in 4 to 6 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Together with PRP (platelet-rich plasma using your own natural serum), it can stimulate even more collagen for a smoother, more radiant complexion.
How is the procedure done?
An anaesthetic cream may be applied for more aggressive treatments. Just before the treatment, a skin specific serum is applied and then several passes are performed. It may feel a bit scratchy but it is a comfortable treatment. It is an alternate treatment method for injecting PRP superficially into the skin. If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), an oral antiviral medication should be taken prior to treatment.
How will I look after the treatment?
You may just have some pinkness for a few hours after the treatment but if you had an aggressive treatment for lines or scars, you may have pinprick bleeding or red marks under the skin for a few days and some itchiness or tenderness. Make-up can be applied. You can return to normal activities but you should use sun protection.
Can the microneedling treatment be used with other procedures?
Definitely! It may be combined with several treatments including facials, Dermalinfusion microdermabrasion, Oxygenating 3 in 1 facial, chemical peels, LED light, PRP, IPL, lasers, radio frequency skin tightening, and injectables.
