Dermal Fillers In Toronto

Patients Choose the Dermal Filler for Treating Wrinkles

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring mucopolysaccharide that helps to keep the skin moist, pliant, and plump. Everyone is born with it, though its presence in the skin begins to decline as people reach their 20s and the decades continue to go by. As hyaluronic acid diminishes, increasingly dry and nonflexible skin begins to show the effects of the loss, which appear as fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and hollows. Dermal filler, at Toronto’s Gidon Aesthetics and Medispa, is made of hyaluronic acid, giving it the ability to replace an individual’s diminishing supply. It is a safe, non-animal based product and allergy testing is not required.

There are several dermal filler products, all of which use hyaluronic acid to add volume to the face in different areas, restoring more youthful contours and augmenting features that benefit from a boost. Results are noticeable and last six to twelve months, depending on the area being treated.

Uses for Dermal Fillers

Smoothing Out Nasolabial Folds and Other Facial Wrinkles

Often called parentheses, nasolabial folds develop on either side of the mouth, running from the side of the nose down to the corners of the lips. The result of hyaluronic acid and collagen loss, as well as redistribution of fat, these lines are often accompanied by marionette lines that run from the corners of the lips down toward the chin. In addition, short vertical lip lines and lines that radiate outward from the corners of the mouth develop.

Augmenting Thin Lips

Naturally thin lips can benefit from filler enhancement. With age, individuals may notice their once-full lips develop lines and become thinner. Many patients would just like to restore their natural volume, while others desire lush, fuller lips.

Rejuvenating the Cheeks to Correct Age-Related Volume Loss

The loss of collagen and fat causes the round, apple area of the cheeks to flatten, leading to sagging skin and a gaunt, unhappy or angry appearance.

Contouring the Jawline

With loss of cheek volume, the jawline begins to sag and jowls develop. Dermal filler can help lift the jawline and chin for a smoother contour.

During a consultation, Dr. Gidon will explain which filler products would be best for each individual, depending on the areas being treated and the desired result.

How Does Dermal Filler Work?

Since it is made up of hyaluronic acid, a dermal filler is very effective at retaining water to keep skin resilient and moist. The filler and bound water create added volume, resulting in a healthy, attractive appearance.

Dr. Gidon injects the dermal filler into carefully selected areas on the face to maximize aesthetic results while preserving harmony and proportion. Maintaining facial balance is important to avoid a look that appears unnatural or “overdone.”

What is a Liquid Facelift?

This procedure reduces the signs of aging using a combination of neuromodulators to stop dynamic lines, and fillers to restore volume. It enhances the brow and cheekbones, firms the jawline and fills in the hollows beneath the eyes. It gives the impression of a mini face-lift and facial rejuvenation without surgery.

When will the results of the Dermal Filler treatment be noticed?

Improvement in wrinkles, folds and lips are seen immediately but it takes about two weeks to see the full result. Swelling and bruising may occur and last for several days. Avoidance of anti-inflammatory medication, alcohol, green tea, omega-3’s and vitamin E for at least one week prior to treatment can help reduce the chance of bruising. If you have a history of facial cold sores, Dr. Gidon will prescribe antiviral medication to take before your treatment to prevent a recurrence.

How long will the Dermal Filler results last?

The clear gel gradually dissolves and is absorbed naturally by the body. Results may last six to twelve months or longer. Most patients do like to maintain their results and return for treatment as necessary.

More Than Dermal Fillers

Other popular wrinkle-smoothing injectables, Neuromodulators for Cosmetic Treatments, are available as standalone treatments or as a complement to dermal fillers. Neuromodulators for Cosmetic Treatments prevent the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.

Together, the two injectables can bring a more youthful look to the face while extending the duration of the benefits.
